The casual ocean and creation
Karana ocean also know as the casual ocean, which forms the boarder between transcendental and material realms.
Karanodakasayi Maha-Vishnu lies down in the casual ocean which consists of undifferentiated material energy. Here he begins to create the material world, first the supreme lord begins to separate the qualities of the material elements (ether, air, fire, water and earth) by his glance.
NB. Lord Vishnu is not accompanied by lord Ananta in this form.
The supreme lord, in his exhalation, breaths out the universe. There are millions of universes covered in material elements, and the supreme lord expands himself to enter each one.
Creation
lord Vishnu in the casual ocean
lord Vishnu separates the material elements
lord Vishnu exhaling creating universes and expands to enter each one.
inside each universe it is dark, the lord lies down on Ananta Sesa on the waters of devastation. from his navel grows a beautiful lotus, whose light dries up the waters around it.
from the lotus Brahma is born, very unfamiliar with who he is , where he has come from and what is his purpose.
determined to find his answers he climbs down the stem of the lotus and is stopped by the wheel of time which represents death.he returns to his seat on the lotus flower.
for one hundred years he meditates until he find the lord in his heart.
the supreme lord appears below him, in a big vast beautiful form.
the supreme lord then enters his creation to maintain it. he expands him self millions and billions of time to live in each atom and soul.
With ever breath of the Supreme lord a universe is created and the above process takes place again .

After the Lord disappears from Brahma’s sight, Brahma sees that the lotus has spread throughout the universe. Now understanding his purpose, Brahma begins the work of creation as the delegated and empowered representative of the Supreme Lord. Meditating on the Lord in his heart, he forms the planetary systems from the petals of the lotus.
Next he begins to reproduce population from the different parts of his body, including his mind, feelings, and shadow, by mystic powers. He does not create the souls, who are eternal spiritual sparks from the spiritual form of the Lord, any more than he created the material elements. He merely gives them bodies formed from those material elements according to their various levels of consciousness at the time.the supreme lord then enters his creation to maintain it. he expands him self millions and billions of time to live in each atom and soul.

Lord Ananta Śeṣa
His name means "that which remains", when the world is destroyed at the end of a Kalpa ( A relatively long period of time (by human calculation)), Śeṣa remains as he is.
The magnificent incarnation of Lord Maha Vishnu himself. He is the king of all Nagas.
Śeṣa is depicted as a massive coiled form that floats in space or the Ocean of milk, to form the bed which Lord Vishnu lies upon accompanied by his consort Mother Lakshmi.
According to the Mahabharata Śeṣa was born to sage Kasyapa and his wife Kadru. Kadru gave birth to thousands of snakes of which Śeṣa was the eldest. A lot of Śeṣa's brothers were cruel in nature and were bent of inflicting harm on others. Disgusted by this behavior he left his mother, and to ascetic penances (deep meditation), he lived on air, and meditated in many places including Pushkara and Himalayas. By seeing his will lord Brahma asked Śeṣa to request a boon, in which he asked Brahma to be able to control his mind so he may continue in his deep meditation, in return Brahma asked of Śeṣa to go beneath the unstable earth and stabilize it.
Lord Ananta is the predominating Deity of the material mode of ignorance as well as the false ego of all conditioned souls. When living being thinks, "I am the enjoyer, and this world is meant to be enjoyed by me," this conception of life is dictated to him by Sankarsana. Thus the mundane conditioned soul thinks himself the Supreme Lord. This great universe, situated on one of Lord Anantadeva's thousands of hoods, appears just like a white mustard seed. It is infinitesimal compared to the hood of Lord Ananta. At the time of devastation, when Lord Anantadeva desires to destroy the entire creation, He becomes slightly angry. Then from between His two eyebrows appears three-eyed Rudra, carrying a trident. (SB 5.25.1 - 3)
A. C. Bhaktivedanta Svāmi Śrīla Prabhupāda said " sankarsana of the quadruple form descends with lord Sri Rama as Laksmana. when Lord Sri Rama disappears. Śeṣa again separates himself from the personality of Laksmana. Śeṣa returns to his adobe in the Patala region, and Laksmana returns to his abode in Vaikuṇṭha.
in the Bhagavad-gita, chapter 10, verse 29, Sri Krishna while describing 75 of his common manifestations, declares ,"anantaś ca asmi nāgānāṁ" : of the nagas, i am Ananta.
Patala denotes the seven lower regions of the universe which are located under the earth, often translated as the underworld or netherworld. (NB.this will be discussed in detail later on in the blog)
NB. Vaikuṇṭha will be discussed later on in the blog.

Vedic cosmology, what is it ?
cosmology is defined as the study of the origin, purpose, structure and functioning of the universe. Vedic cosmology give a wide spread amount of information which allows us not only to see the physical universe we see today but also gives us a vast image of the manifestation of this universe, the purpose and the laws that govern it.
It is the relation and dependence that everything has upon the supreme personality of godhead, Sri Krishna, the cause of all causes.
As Sri Krishna states in Bhagavad-gita,
"A person is fully consciousness of Me, knowing Me to be the ultimate beneficiary of all sacrifices and austerities, the Supreme lord of all planets and demigods, and benefactor and well-wisher of all living entities, attains peace from the pangs of material miseries."
Human society today can take shelter of the greatest benefit from appreciating and understanding this instructions and mold their lives around it.
Vedic cosmology is the attempt to help us understand the world, our place in it and the relationship between ourselves, this world and the supreme source, from whom all other energies emanate.
